An old man sharing his musty bread
with hordes of doves.
At least he's not alone.
The host of a humble spread
with guests from heaven.
He crumbs his musty bread,
the spell of night and days,
a slice of his wretched past,
his hoggish guests devouring the last of it.
Poor birds!
They'll leave him soon
on with their heavenly affairs.
He'll be alone again, no bread, no life,
no past... all by himself
with the ghost of morrow.
