I’ve written some poems lately, and what I find myself doing is letting people read them, to get some kind of feedback. And as I was walking back to my car today, I realized that a lot of poets don’t like to show their work to other people, and I wondered if the reason I was able to so easily is because I don’t pour a whole lot of emotion into them. Are you supposed to be able to re-read your work in 10 or 20 years and still be able to instantly tap into the same emotions you had when writing it? And is it bad that I don’t seem to have any problem sharing my work with EVERYONE?
